British Values

As of November 2014, schools must now promote British values.
The Government has defined British Values as the following: democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and belief.

At Freehold Primary Academy we have embedded these into our daily practice and the curriuclum.

We also hold an annual "Pride in Oldham" Week to help our children to feel proud of their community and understand their place in a modern and often confusing society.  In 2015 we had a visit from a famous Oldhamer, Shobna Gulati, who shared her memories of being an Oldham child and talked to us all about why she is proud to be from Oldham.

We have also chosen some famous British characters who we feel embody our Freehold Five.  We will be finidng out about these people thourghout the year and linking our work about our own values to them.
